How a book is made tag

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone! How are you? How’s your week going so far?

Today I’m back with another bookish tag, and once again I decided to talk a bit about…writing. I’m not too used to talking about this, but well, I’m trying, in the hope that it gives me inspiration…and that you enjoy it! I’m answering the lovely questions from the How a book is made tag, thanks to The Orangutan Librarian !

1. Should you participate in National Novel Writing Month to create a book?

To be honest, I don’t think there’s a should, in anything when it comes to writing. There’s only want, and maybe at times, need. That very philosophical sentence being said, I can say that, from my experience, NaNoWriMo really is a good thing to MAKE you write. If you’re anything like me, setting goals for yourself, seeing a word-count get higher and higher, can be a massive motivation to get to writing. I mean, look at me. I wroke 62K in a month and two days last year thanks to NaNo. Since then – the past 11 months – I wrote 11 K at the most. So YES, I think it can be motivating, but it’s up to you, it’s either for you, or not.

2. Self-publishing or traditional publishing?

I don’t know all the tiny little details about self-publishing and traditional publishing, and I wouldn’t advice one, or the other, I guess whatever suits you the most!

3. Write one idea at a time or write all the ideas at once?

I’m more of a one idea at a time kind of person, since I’m currently obsessing about my one idea for almost two years. But I still have some other ideas in a corner of my mind. I mean, you can never have too many ideas, can you ?

4. What genre is the easiest to write?

I don’t think I’ve tried to write in too many genres to actually pick the easiest one. I do think however that contemporary is easier. For me.

6. Where do you find your inspiration?

Everywhere ?

7. What age do you start writing?

Whenever you can hold a pen and write words ? Or was the question when did I start writing stories ? Hm because I can’t remember that either. I wrote when I was much, much younger, and I found old notebooks the other day. It was terrible. But I wrote something., I guess ?

8. What’s easiest to write? Short stories, stand-alones, series, etc.

Same as above, I’ve only written kind of stories that are supposed to be part of a big picture – meaning, a whole book, so…I’d say they’re the easiest? Who am I kidding. Nothing about writing is easy haha.

10. How fast can you type?

Fast. Very fast, I guess, since a couple of people already told me that. I think I might be a robot.

11. Do you write in the dark or in the light?

Does this mean, at night or during the day? Or like, with no lights on? Because I always write with lights on, otherwise my eyes would be hurting and…well, I’m not too comfortable writing in the dark haha.

12. Hand-written or typed?

My fingers can’t follow when I want to write everything on paper and in notebooks. I have too many ideas and I’m not that fast to write by hand, so I’ll go with typing.

13. Alone or with someone else?

Alone. For now.

14. Any typing hacks?

Not really?

15. Are you already published?

I wish. #dream

16. When did you first consider being an author?

I don’t even know if I consider myself an author since I haven’t truly finished my novel, for now. Should I ?

17. How many books do you have in draft form?

One for now. Or maybe two.

18. Do you outline or no?

Yes, yes, yes. Then I change the outline as I write. Then I outline again. I’m going a bit crazy with outlining, if you ask me.

19. What’s your favourite note-keeping strategy?

Notebooks, and my Word document. I try and write little ideas on notebooks and sometimes ideas come as I write and I put them down on my computer in order not to forget them. But I think I love notebooks more.

20. What do you think about writing in different genres?

I haven’t tried too many genres for now, so I don’t really know how to answer this question haha.
