Netflix and Books Tag

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone! How are you? I hope you’re having a lovely Wednesday…All I can think about is my birthday coming up soon hahaha, I am terrible (and wishing for books. Yes. #sorrynotsorry. Alright, today’s another day where I’m doing a bookish tag, yay!

I’m so eager to introduce you to that one, because I’m going to be able to talk about some of my favorite tv shows, as well as books, and…well, isn’t that GREAT? Thank you to the lovely Veda @ Crown Print for the tag, and don’t forget to check out her gorgeous blog!

Friends: best cast of characters/friendships

friends

Okay, you should probably know it by now, or not if you’re rather new at reading one of my blog posts, but Friends is my favorite tv show of all times. I can quote the dialogues by heart, I watched every episode way too many times, I constantly do Friends reference in my daily life. Yes, okay, you could say I’m mildly obsessed with a show that ended over ten years ago. I still cry watching the finale. I love these people.

cressTo go with this tv show, and for the best cast of characters, I want to talk (again) about Cress. Because this book was absolutely INCREDIBLE, and my love for all the characters is endless. They make such an incredible crew, everyone with their uniqueness, flaws and love.

Gossip Girl: hate that you love or guilty pleasure

gossip-girl

I have read all of the Gossip Girl books, and “guilty pleasure” definitely is the right term to define these books. The TV show has nothing to do with the books though, the characters are so different – but let’s be honest, Blair Waldorf will forever be a slightly crazy role model to me. I mean, don’t we all ask ourselves on  daily basis, WHAT WOULD BLAIR WALDORF DO? Well, we should.

the sirenIf I’m talking about books, besides the Gossip Girl series, I want to mention Kiera Cass’ books. I think they’re perfectly fitting in this category, because they’re quick reads, adorable, a bit marshmallow-y, without being perfect or breathtaking books, they perfectly do the trick of making you feel relaxed.

How I Met Your Mother: bad ending

how-i-met-your-mother

Yeah, you, and no one should ever ask me about How I Met Your Mother’s ending. I am still SO MAD about this.

Sorry, but I need to talk about how the Never, Never ending FRUSTRATED ME SO MUCH. I loved the story, the writing, I couldn’t stop reading, and then this happened. Why.

The OC: series that should have ended earlier

the-oc

California, here we come, right back where we started from… Am I the only one getting the theme song in my head whenever I think about this show? Ugh, I feel SO much nostalgia right now.

pllI can’t think about anything else besides the Pretty Little Liars series, mainly because I still haven’t finished reading it, because…18 books or something? It’s too much. WAY too much.

One Tree Hill: favorite book boyfriend

one-tree-hill

I loved One Tree Hill, but I hated Peyton. Sorry not sorry, I’ve always been shipping Brooke with Lucas. Alright, I will go hide right now before you all scream at me.

mara dyer 1There are WAY too many potential bookish boyfriends, I don’t even know where to start, or who to choose. I always love Noah, from The Mara Dyer series, so, so much. I mean, gorgeous, adorable, and the English accent? I can’t resist.

Modern Family: best family or parents

phil-modern-family

phil-modern-family-2

I never really followed Modern Family, apart from the episodes on my television once in a while, but whenever I see it, I laugh so, SO hard. Phil’s the funniest. I really should watch all the seasons sometime, but I think there are A LOT of these.

radio silence

As I am writing this, I just finished reading  Radio Silence by Alice Oseman, and I really want to talk about Frances’ mom. She wears an unicorn onesie and she is incredibly sweet, thoughtful, and just overall one of the best parental figures in books. I love her.

I feel like a lot of people already did this tag, but if you feel like it, well…you’re tagged!

Are you planning to read, or did you read any of these books?

Do you spot one of your favorite tv shows in this list? If not, what is it? Tell me all about it! 💬

  1. BLAIR WALDORF IS QUEEN AND WILL REMAIN WITH THAT TITLE FOREVERMORE! ❤ She's kind of my role model too, in a weird way, because she is morally dubious sometimes hahaha but I always connected to her on a level that I never could with any of the other characters.

  2. Definitely agree with the best friends answer because the crew of the Lunar Chronicles is so damn fantastic! Also, I agree with the Siren! *subtlely but not so subtlely winks* I need to really go and check some of these books out don’t I? 😉 and I’ve started watching Friends and I love it so much! I’m currently watching Grimm and I love it so much ❤ My favourite TV show is probably White Collar but Supernatural's seasons 1-5 are great too!

  3. Your birthday is coooooomiiiiiiiing 😀 Friends will never get old ❤ I can't believe it's been years since it ended. Bring them back! I stopped watching How I Met Your Mother way before the ending so I never knew the end xD Hahahaha, I shipped Brooke and Lucas too! The best family or parents part made me think of Parenthood, I just love that show 😀 Modern Family is nice when you switch on the TV and there's nothing else. And for a bookish family, I have no idea haha!

      1. I hate bad TV shows ending! I was a tad bit disappointed by the last season of Gilmore Girls, and there are so many shows that lose their way because they add too many season and don’t realize they need to stop 😦 Parenthood is cute and it’s nice when you don’t have family around 😀 ❤

  4. Hahah, I love this tag!
I don’t even have Netflix and I have to admit I didn’t watch half of these shows, but I see so much from them on Tumblr and Facebook I feel like I’ve watched it all!
I agree with Pretty Little Liars being too long. I read the first eight books in the series and actually really enjoyed them. But, just like the TV show, they’re pushing it too much. Although I like the author’s writing, I’ll probably never be able to finish the entire series!
I also really want to read the Gossip Girl books. Even though they’re very different from the show, who doesn’t love reading about rich teenagers living in NY? And who doesn’t love Blair Waldorf, right? Hahah.
    Great answers, Marie! 🙂

    1. Thank you so much! >3 ahah oh well thanks (or because of?) Tumblr, I feel like I know all the shows as well, haha.
I probably won’t finish the PLL series either, it’s way too long… I really liked the story and the characters, but the fact that it dragged on for sooo long makes me mad ahah.
I hope you’ll read the Gossip Girl books soon, they’re great, guilty-pleasure kind of reads 😀 Thank you!

  5. I have never read the Gossip Girl books, but what the writers of the show did to Blair’s character is one of the biggest injustices in teen tv history! I freaking hated Chuck (like season 4 onwards. Before that, I was totally into him, but I never got over the selling her for a hotel thing). He totally ruined her! I wish Blair had tossed him off of a building, rather than his dad.

Also also also I LOVE Cress. I think I might have to reread just that book. Captain Carswell is probably the YA guy I am most in love with.

    1. Oh yes, that moment when Chuck sold her for that hotel thing made me SO MAD. I just wish that moment didn’t happen at all ahah.
OH YES I love him SO much! He’s so much fun and, he’s SO awesome. I want to re-read the book as well, but…before, I need to read Winter 😀
      Thank you!!

  6. I don’t know why, but I have a sudden urge to rewatch The O.C. 😉
Also, YES, I totally loved the squad in The Lunar Chronicles. Cress was amazing!
I never finished the Gossip Girl tv show, but I did love Blair as a character and asking yourself ‘What Would Blair Waldorf Do?’ sounds like a great idea! 🙂
18 books, say what? That’s indeed waay too much! I honestly also think the show is taking too long, I gave up 2 years ago…

    1. The O.C is SUCH a great show, I love it so much, I’m in for a re-watch haha.
I agree, both the tv show and the books were way too long, and the plot dragged on and on, and it’s so sad. It had so much potential, but with the big reveal taking so much time, i kind of made me lose interest 😦
      Thank you so much ❤

  7. I would never have connected these books to these TV series in a million years, haha. 18 full-length books is a bit much, though. As far as series that should have ended sooner, take a gander at Supernatural. That series should have ended at season 5 when it was still phenomenal, but NO.

  8. I loved your answers for this tag Marie! I definitely agree with you on the best cast of characters/friendships; my answer for that one would have been the Rampion crew as well!
I haven’t read any of the other books you’ve featured (not sure if I’ll ever get around to the Never Never books based on all the negative reviews I’ve seen) but I have the Mara Dyer trilogy on my to-read list which I cannot wait to get started on!
Also I love the gifs of Phil Dunphy you included, he’s my favourite character in Modern Family hands down! 😀

    1. Aww thank you so, so much Beth, glad you enjoyed this ❤
There are so many books to be read, but I really hope you'll be able to squeeze the Mara Dyer series in your TBR sometime soon. I LOVED it so, so much, I just want everyone to love it just as much 😀
These gifs, and that scene is MY FAVORITE. It's just so funny, and Phil is such a fun dad haha, I love him.

      1. It’s on my list of books I need to read by the end of the year, so hopefully November given my October TBR list is pretty packed at the moment. I’ve only seen good reviews for it so I am excited to get started! 😀
Oh yes just when he comes up with the llama I burst out laughing the first time I watched it. Phil is a great dad, and yeah definitely my favourite character! 😀

  9. Oh this is a FUN TAG. Except I haven’t watched half of these shows, haha, but groups of friends?! Yessss to the Cinder & Co. They are PRECIOUS and sassy and I love them so much! The banter! I also love The Raven Boys group…and the Six of Crows bunch…although are they even friends? Idek. They also would probably stab each other, but that just keeps the friendship EXCITING. YES. Also this reminds me that I really need to read Radio Silence soon!!

    1. Thank you so, so much! OH YES The raven Boys, I love them ALL so much, I should have included them here as well ❤
I hope you'll get some time to squeeze Radio Silence in your endless TBR, Cait. It really is worth it, I loved it! 🙂 Thank you SO much! 🙂
