On holidays, a kind of more real hiatus, #SFATW and ALL THE BOOKS

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, friends! Third post this week, does this mean I am back for good? Well, erm… no. This means I’m playing catch-up before my real hiatus. I hope you all had a wonderful week… and if you’re asking, here are how my couple of weeks went. This is kind of a big post…you’ve been warned. THANK YOU for reading.

The Sunday Post(1)

In case you didn’t know, this is a special feature created by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. I’m going to take part again this week because I have tons of things to tell you guys, so…let’s get to it!

Trying to get some books off my endless TBR…📚

Since the beginning of July, or the last time you’ve heard of me updating here more regularly, I have read two books : A Gathering of Shadows, with the incredible twinnie Fadwa @ Word Wonders, which I LOVED. The beginning was a bit slow but the ending got me SCREAMING it was so good (and unfair). You’ll have my review next week!.

I also read the second book in The Lunar Chronicles series, Scarlet. I found myself a bit less drawn into it than I was for Cinder, which is a shame, but once I really got through it -and got time to really get into it, I really LOVED it.

lola and the boyAs I am writing this, I am reading Lola and The Boy Next Door. Not doing things in order since…I’ve already read Isla. I know, am I weird? I’m going to finish this book by today (hopefully) because once I’m going on holidays…well, I will come back with another suitcase full of books probably so…

Keeping the blogging-frenzy alive ! ✏️

That title is SO misleading because I haven’t been too regular on here, and on your blogs the past week. I did my best to change that this week. Anyway, here’s what I talked about this week!

Souvenirs from across the world(3)

🔹 I am still asking for your feedback on my special feature, Souvenirs From Across The World ! I would love to make this a regular feature, where we bloggers share about our countries and books, and exchange books and gifts…so let me know what you think. If you do, there might be a little giveaway there.!

🎁 While we’re on the gifts subject… Sush @ Fervently Curious got her gifts from Kat @ Life & Other Disasters thanks to the #SFATW project, as well as The Orangutan Librairian, from Mystery With A Book! You can check them out below. FANTASTIC GIFTS.

🔹 Jesalin @ JBelkBooks shared her experience with the project on her blog, go check it out!!

🔴🎁 To everyone SENDING SOUVENIRS to other book bloggers, don’t forget to let me know – thanks to twitter (#SFATW), and even a blog post if you want – when you get it and what you get and share the excitment!!

In other news

🔹 Last Saturday, I participated to InterBlogCon, an online convention for all book bloggers! And I taught a class about book blogging, with all my nervousness and French accent. If you missed it, you can watch it here! (And sorry again for all the technical issues at the beginning.)

🔹 I reviewed The Winner’s Curse, another hyped book that didn’t made me fall head over heels, but was still interesting.

Sharing the love around the book blogging community 💖

love blogger

🔹 Poulami @ Daydreaming Books shared her thoughts about how she rates her books.

🔹 Jillian @ Rant & Rave About Books told us that you don’t have to be a romantic to read romance, with her usual hilarious stories and awesome recommendations.

🔹 Michelle @ The Writing Hufflepuff talked about her favorite bookstore in Amsterdam, and basically made us want to go there NOW.

🔹 Shanti @ Virtually Read asks us if there’s such a thing as READING TOO MUCH. Oh, I don’t know. #bookwormstruggles.

Throwback on the two past weeks ⌛️

HOLIDAYS📓

So I’ve kind of been MIA on your blogs and on mine-well… kind of, because you all saw I couldn’t help myself and not check out your lovely blogs… ANYWAY I can’t control myself haha.

In other news, I moved out in early July, and had two wonderful weeks with my loved ones. Some things have been hard and I know I will have to adapt myself to some changes, some happy, other clearly breaking my heart. But right now I can only hope everything will go on for the best. Anyway, in more happy news, I’ve done a bunch of cute things, seeing storks, going to Germany, to Strasbourg and everything… Check out my Instagram for more pictures!

SOME TRAVELLING… AND HIATUS TO COME… 🙀

I already talked about it before, but now it’s getting real because… I am kind of leaving tomorrow haha. I’m going with my lovely twinnie sister to England for a couple weeks, and we have a sort of road trip planned, it’s going to be a LOT OF fun, I can’t wait!

However, this means I won’t be able to be there -and for real, this time, I am going on HIATUS. (this is scaring me, haha). I only have reviews scheduled, one per week. BUT… I will still be there to chat and hopefully, MAKE YOU TRAVEL WITH ME a bit thanks to the wonders of technology

twitterOn twitter : @dh_books, where I will be updating you on my travels, my endless bookstores quest and the usual craziness.

snapchatOn snapchat : marie.dhb, where I will try to get the hang of this and share pictures of my trip to make you travel with me!

instagram iconOn instagram : @slowlyallatonce, where I will update pictures as well.

What to expect next 💭

I will be back for real in mid-August, I am not so sure of the date yet though because I’ll be travelling again around the 10th. BUT… I already have a couple of exciting things planned. Travelling posts should be back, as well as more bookish discussions and content. But for now… hello, holidays!

Happy Sunday guys! Since I’ve been a bit MIA, I’d love to know…how is your summer -or winter- going so far?

What are you currently reading, what is your favorite blog post of the week? Share it in comments! 💬

Thank you for the support, and for staying with me through these semi, and more real hiatus now. I will miss you guys tons! 😘😘😘

  3. Have fun on your travels! I hope your time off gets your creative juices flowing once you’re back. 3 weeks may seem like a long time for you to be gone from your blog, but don’t worry about it too much. People won’t forget about you during this time!

  5. Wouuuhh! Big fieldtrip right there. I hope you have an absolute blast out there and discover as many things as you possibly can (maybe new booooooks?! Who knows!). I can’t stop seeing V.E. Schwab’s books here and there. I definitely need to check out the books that made her so famous! I’ve only had the chance to read her first young adult book, This Savage Song. Amazing stuff! 😉 Once again, hope you’re having the fun of your life! Enjoy the summer time!!

Hope you have a great time in the UK – will be looking out for your pictures 🙂 I took a long break from blogging (no scheduled posts at all) and I’m finding it very hard to start again. 8. Wow it sounds like you’ve had a busy month in spite of not blogging, and it also sounds like you’ve got through some great books as well. I am so so excited to see your review for AGOS, and Scarlet as well actually. I really hope you are loving both series and I know you’re now really excited for the last book in the Shades of Magic series (why does it have to be so far away!) 😀
I’ve nearly finished my SFATW box (well, I say nearly finished, I know what I have left to buy, including the book) so everything should be ready to be sent on the 1st Aug. I’d love to see it be made into a regular feature! I’ve had so much fun with this one I’d love to re-experience it all again another month!
Happy travels for Monday ❤ you must be so so excited, I'm sure your holiday will be great and I will be checking your Instagram for pictures as well! 😀

I can't wait to see what I get either, and I really hope my SFATW match likes what I've gotten them as well! It's an amazing feature, and I really hope to see more of it in the future! 😀

  11. I hope you have an absolutely amazing time in England! It’s where I live, so I don’t find it very exciting, but I’m sure you will, because it’s so beautiful and we have so much history here. I’ll add you on Instagram too because I absolutely adore seeing holiday photos! If you ever need any advice on places to go (in the North West of England), you know my Twitter handle 😉

I can’t wait for you to get back, but obviously I also hope you’ll have an AMAZING time (which I’m sure you will :P) I think I added you on Snapchat (I’m always so scared that I somehow end up adding someone else even if I check the spelling multiple times lol). Can’t wait to read/see about all your adventures 😀 Also thank you so much for sharing my post ❤️

  13. Like always, I’m currently reading a ton of books according to my Goodreads, but I’m actively been reading Six of Crows. I’m not far in since I’ve had to work so much lately, but from what I’ve read it’s been really intriguing. I like it already. And yay for Souvenirs From Across the World’s success. 😀 Also, hope you enjoy your holiday, Marie! Travel safe!

Also, I’ll soon be trying my very first V.E. Schwab book and I have super high expectations but I’m sure I’ll love it 🙂

  18. I think your Souvenirs from around the world feature sounds great! I love how international the book blogging community is and it would be so interesting to read more about where everyone is from. It also means I can live vicariously through those who are travelling while I deal with my anxiety. 😀

I’m glad you enjoyed A Darker Shade of Magic! I really liked that one. Scarlet didn’t really do it for me, I absolutely loved Cress and Winter. You’re in for a treat!
