Souvenirs From Across The World : Let’s go on an ADVENTURE !!!

It’s here, it’s, it’s HERE! Okay, erm, HELLO friends! How are you in this wonderful Sunday? I am very, very nervous and slightly crazy, but whatever. Let’s do this. Two weeks ago, I introduced you to my Souvenirs From Across The World idea. I still am OVER THE MOON with your positive comments, so…I’m officially starting this, today! Since we have busy lives and it will take organization, this feature is going to take place for a few months…but more on that later. For now…here’s the official FAQ, recap, and…subscriptions are OPEN!

Thank you for making this idea possible by all of your positive feedback and enthousiasm about it. I am thrilled to launch this and I hope you will have an incredible time. I apologize for this slightly-long post, and if you have ANY question…well, hi!

WHAT IS IT ? 💬

Souvenirs From Across The World is a feature made for book bloggers, but also bloggers in general and writers from all around the world. We are just SO many, and I have made such wonderful friends here. This feature is a way to share with each other something slightly different, a bit personal and unique with everyone. Since we’re from all around the world, this feature is created to get to know each other, and most especially each other’s culture, country, hometowns etc.

HOW DOES IT WORK ? 💬

This Souvenirs From Across The World feature will take place from today, the 22nd of May, until mid August approximately, on the blogosphere, and in your hometowns! The feature will be divided in TWO parts.

✈️ Part one : Getting to know each other’s countries and hometowns through a blog post.

Obviously not everyone will want to share the name of the city they are living in, and that’s completely understandable. You can talk about your country just as well, and you can do that in ANY WAY you want. You can imagine a pictures -only post, write about traditions, your culture, write about clichés from your country, about why you love your city, you can write in bullet points or you can tell us why it’s a great place to visit, the touristic things, or just take us away with the little hidden treasures of your country, talk about food… REALLY ANYTHING you want. As long as it’s about your country or your hometown.

🕑 On the 19th of June (this gives you plenty of time to think about your blog post), I will post about my hometown. Because YES I am participating obviously, who wants something from France? ;). ON that very post, you will be able to link back to your own post (just like the Top Ten Tuesday feature), and see what others have to say about their hometowns and countries, and TRAVEL and get to know each other better. There is NO obligation to post on the 19th. You can post DURING the whole week, up to the 26th of June.

❗️ THIS part is open to ANYONE, just like Top Ten Tuesday. Just write a blog post, mention this is a Souvenirs From Across The World feature, leave your link on the blog post I’ll do here, and get to know other bloggers!

✉️  Part two : Sharing souvenirs from all around the world !

❗️ Be careful : this part is open to SUBSCRIBERS ONLY, so if you want to participate, please subscribe with the form at the end of this post.

One week after talking all about our hometowns, will come the time where you’ll be matched with your secret lover from abroad. Okay, just kidding. But once you’ve subscribed, I will put all your names in a jar and pick at random.

🕑 Then, on the 26th of June, I will send each of you participating in the souvenirs thing, by email, the name, blogging links and everything to whom you will send souvenirs. YAY!

After that, things are totally up to you to find what you want to send, and to send it to the person. Since it can take a little bit of time, to be fair, you will have until the 15th August to send something. This leaves you plenty of time to find the perfect idea and send it. I am inviting you to let me know WHEN you send your gift, by mail or on the blog, through twitter if you want, but just LET ME KNOW, for organization’s sake 😉

I don’t take any responsibility for lost packages. I do understand taking the recording delivery parcel costs a bit more money, but I am leaving that part totally up to you.

🌎 Part three : Showing love from all around !

Once you finally get your souvenirs, I’m inviting you to share it through social medias with the hashtag #SFATW , or talk about it on your blog as well (and let me know so I can see what you got!). In the end, I will probably write a recap for this project, and hope that this will bring you guys together and get to know each other a lot better.

📅 A RECAP, anyone ?

✏️ Okay so how do I subscribe ?

If you want to participate to the writing a blog post part, no need to subscribe or do anything. JUST write a blog post and don’t forget to come back here and leave your link, so others can check it out!

If you want to send a souvenir from your country / hometown, you need to subscribe using the form right here.

❗️ REMINDER: The goal here is to get to know each other, and share LOVE and souvenirs from our countries with this feature. NOT to spend all of our money. So it’s obvious you can choose the amount of money you want to spend in this. You can send a postcard or a book, you can send locally -to your country or continent – or internationally. it’s AS you want, and, except if you don’t mind, I will try and match things at best so, if someone sends a book, he doesn’t receive a postcard, so it’s kind of equal for all.

I can’t believe I am doing this and I can’t believe the amount of craziness I am going to need for this. LET’S GET TO IT. I really hope you’ll be as thrilled about it as I am, and I hope you’ll want to participate, to the blog post thing or/and the souvenir thing as well. 💖

❔If you have ANY question, ask away in comments, or you can find my mail in my ABOUT page.

Alright, so…are you excited for this to start? And well, since it’s sunday, and my positive highlight of this week is this, share a positive thing that happened to you this week in comments! 💬

  1. I’ll definitely participate in the blog post part! More stuff to write about. Yay! Will have to see how much my wallet weighs next month before I sign up for the souvenir part. Haha.

    1. Aww thank you so much, that means a lot to me! I hope people will be interested, I look forward to getting to know other bloggers’ home more 🙂 If you feel like participating, in the blog post part, or the souvenirs as well, I’d love for you to 🙂 Thank you so much for your encouraging comment, that’s so sweet ❤

  2. I am so excited for this! I haven’t signed up yet, because I am debating wiht myself whether I should pick the option with 2-3 little somethings or the book lover one. It’s just … I don’t know all that many local authors or whether their work ever got translated. Books about Vienna are boring. Would it be weird if I sent something by a German author that does not take place in Austria or Germany? That kind of makes it useless, right? It should be something that at least takes place in Austria or is written by an Austria. OH DECISIONS! WHY MUST YOU BE SO DIFFICULT TO MAKE?

    1. OH of course, take your time! OH, the book doesn’t have to be any special thing from a local author! IT can be any YA book really, or book, simply, the book lover option really is for someone who can and wants to put a bigger gift, it’s not necessarily a book related to the hometown/country, I’m guessing the postcard with it or something would be a lot more related to the country though, if that happens. In the end it’s really up to you! I don’t think it would be weird if it’s from a German author, I think that what matters is how much love you put into the gift 😀 THANK YOU Kat really, for your enthousiasm and support for this idea! ❤ ❤

      1. I actually thought abuot a book. It’s not YA, but it’s from an Austrian and the story is also very Austrian. It’s all written in e-mails and I quite love the book, although the first one ends on a bit of a frustrating note. I’ll keep thinking .There’s still time haha

      2. Ohh, well that sounds like a GREAT idea, I love it! ❤ Yes of course, you still have a few time to think about it and to subscribe. I really wanted to make this long because (let's pretend I'm not going to hand out my 90-pages internship report in june and have my whole degree relying on my grade of that in June…) well I wanted people to have time to think about all of this as well 😀

      3. For this kind of project, and since everyone -well, this will depend on how many people are interested in participating, I hope a few will subscribe ahah 🙂 – comes from all around and have their lives as well, I thought it’d be better this way, I’m glad you agree 😀
(and THANK YOU, I need it, June is coming back too soon and not soon enough at the same time. I am really anxious, ahah. <3)

  3. Yay I am so so excited you’re doing this Marie. It’s such a great idea and I think it will be a huge hit because, well, who doesn’t love learning more about other countries and getting gifts in the post 😀
I will definitely be signing up sometime this week! And I’m already thinking of how best to write about my home town in a blog post! At least I have some time to think about that aspect of it though! 🙂

    1. Aww, thank you Beth 😍 That’s really so sweet of you, and even if a couple people participate, I would be so thrilled already! Yes of course, for personal reasons (work and huge report and whole degree on the balance in june ahah, no big deal), I wanted to give myself, and people more time to think about their blog posts, this way there’s no rush or anything! 🙂 Thank you so much once again ❤

      1. That’s all right! 😀
Well I will definitely be participating, and I will fill out that form sometime this week as well. I’ve put a reminder in my phone so I don’t forget! But hopefully it will be something that takes off quite quickly, it’s a unique idea and I think it’s something a lot of people will be interested in as well. 🙂
I think that should be more than enough time for everyone then, it’s good that the steps are split out over a few months as well so it’s not a rush to do everything within a couple of days of each other too.
Again that’s all right, I am seriously excited for this! ❤️

      2. Thank you, it means really so much to me, all of your support. I’m a bit nervous about this idea, and I hope people will have fun, if they’re 3 to participate, or 15, I’d be happy either way, as long as people are liking it 😀
Exactly, and well, it’ll probably take everyone some time to think about what they’d like to send as well, I think 🙂

      3. That’s all right ❤️ and what are friends for 🙂
It sounds like a lot of fun and I’m already really excited about it! 😀 but you’re right as long as people enjoy themselves that’s the most important thing isn’t it. Are you thinking of making this a regular thing or more of a one-off?
Oh god yeah, it always takes me ages to find gifts for people (I’m honestly terrible when it comes to Christmas shopping!)

        Liked by 1 person

      4. I would LOVE to make this a regular feature, but I’ll have to see how this one works out, and if I can manage to organize that well. But I would love it if it could be regular, obviously not every month ahah, but maybe twice a year or something, that would be great 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Like a test run before the main event 😀 well I hope everything for this one goes well then and you’ll be able to make it a regular feature. It’d be great if it really kicked off!
And yeah I guess twice a year would keep it more of a special event, plus it would give people more time to sort out the posts and presents and sending and everything! 😀

      1. I get it, I feel the same way. I wish I were born somewhere else, and some other days I’m grateful to be where I am. I can’t wait! The official week to put up your post is in June, but if you want to do it before, feel free to 🙂 I can’t wait to read it!

  6. I’m not sure 100% if I’ll participate in this just yet mainly because my state really has nothing to offer since I live in the middle of nowhere (and I haven’t taken any pictures in a really long time to make a post). But I’m so thrilled to see how this project pans out mid-June regardless if I participate or not. So excited for you, Marie! 🙂

    1. Oh I’m sure if you ever want to take pictures, they’ll look great! Even the little things can make us travel, really 🙂 You still have a bit of time to think about the blog post part, if you want to participate, and it can also be a post about your state in general, even the US, a clichés post, a list-post… If you’re feeling inspired, I hope you’ll participate 🙂
Thank you so, so much! I hope everything goes well, and even if, well, I got three people participating, that they have fun, haha. 🙂

THANK YOU so much wow, I'm so thrilled by your enthousiasm! And where are you from? (No. I want to keep that a surprise if you're participating. But I also WANT TO KNOW? ahah). 12. OMG this is so interesting I’m really really excited!! 😀 I’m definitely gonna do the blog post because there are so much that I want to share about my country! But I’m still debating whether to participate in the whole sending souvenirs thing… The problem is the shipping cost from here is SO expensive, it’s even more expensive than the price of the souvenir itself. So I was wondering is it okay if I send my gift virtually? I was thinking maybe I could make some printable bookmarks with a touch of my country or something like that. What do u think? 😀

    Liked by 1 person

    1. OHH yay this makes me so, so happy, thank you SO much for your enthousiasm! I can’t wait to read your blog post! ❤ ❤ ❤ Well I completely understand, the souvenirs part is just up to you and what you can and want to send. I understand shipping costs can be expensive, you can always send it to your own country though, if you want 😀 But if you'd like to send something virtually, well this is actually a pretty great idea, I love it, and right now I am wondering WHY I didn't think of it before!! 😀
