Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, friends! I hope your Sunday is or was great. Did you read great books this weekend? I want to know ALL about it. Today’s usually the day where I talk about bookish things, or take you travelling, but I have decided to do things differently this week. Because WHY NOT? So, here’s to hoping you like this…my first partipation in The Sunday Post!

So, I’m supposed to share the latest bookish and non-bookish news in this special feature created by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. I want to use this time for a special thanks to Geraldine, who inspired me to do this post. Alright, so let’s get to it…

Trying to get some books off my endless TBR…📚

splinteredThis week, I finished reading Splintered. I buddy-read this with the incredible Kat, and let’s just say, I am glad I did, because…it was one creepy, weird, strange and unforgettable book. I’m still getting my bearings about all of this story, but let’s just say, getting into the rabbit hole is one crazy experience. My review will be coming in a few weeks probably, but look out for Kat’s one before. It will be AWESOME.

the sirenI started reading The Siren…buddy-reading, once again, with the CRAZY WONDERFULLY CRAZY AUSTRALIAN PEEP Yarravy . So far, it’s swoon-worthy, well, it’s a Kiera Cass book. I am still VERY excited to read it.

I introduced you guys to a new idea, Souvenirs From Across The World. A way to make book bloggers travel, exchange souvenirs from their hometown, and just get to know each other better. If you haven’t seen this, I would LOVE to hear your thoughts about it!

I shared my Top Ten Websites I’m spending my life on. Books and travelling involved. Obviously.

I talked about my love for the Back to the Future movie in a book tag. This includes a bit of Dawson’s Creek, lots of books and my obsession for Friends. Oh, and a sloth.

Life as an intern 📓

After a week-off my internship to enjoy time with my family, this week was kind of hectic, getting back to work, trying to catch up with everything while trying to be a good person as well. I am such a perfectionnist but anyway. My tutor said I made progress since January, and this made me happy. Plus, she took me out to lunch to tell me that, and we met a publisher and I got 5 free books. So that’s okay, I guess.

And the rest of it 🙀

Not much news here, except my usual freaking out about how my student life is coming to an end in less than two months, and I need to move out and everything and THIS IS SCARY. I’m almost done with my internship report and obviously I wrote 90 pages because #writerslife ?. I’m just excited for the summer AND PLANNING THE SUMMER TIME IS HERE AND I LOVE IT AND I AM READY.

  1. Aww… Thank you for mentioning me! I am going to visit all the other posts you mentioned on here as well.
    I haven’t read Splintered, I am gonna go look for it now. But I am not sure how I will feel any different than you since our taste and opinions about books are pretty similar!

    Internship and work, in general, is stressful, but I am so proud of you! Congratulations on the praise from your tutor! It is such motivation isn’t it?

    I am super thrilled for souvenir around the world! I am keeping my phone close to keep track of all the update about that!

    P.S I am stealing this idea from you! This is such a great way to be more personal and discover new bloggers.

    1. You’re so welcome, I loved this post :). Splintered was a great read, it’s a bit out of my comfort zone but I’m so glad I read it anyway. it was strange and weird, definitely a book I’ll keep in mind for a while though. I would LOVE to hear your thoughts about it 🙂

  2. You’re at such an interesting time in your life right now. I remember the excitement and fear of almost graduating. I didn’t feel like I was ready to move on from my life as a student, but I was so done with school at the same time. Hahaha. It eventually becomes an easy transition. Wish you the best.

    1. OH that’s exactly what I’m feeling right now. I’ve been at school for so long and I’m ready to graduate, but the real world is scary and looking for a job isn’t going to be easy either. I don’t know how I feel, mostly scared about it for now, ahah. Thank you so much, it means a lot to me! ❤

      2. It is one of my favorites as well! And it’s probably what I loved the most about this book, how it took Alice references and the world and turned it into something, well, you’ll see while you read, but it was definitely a thrilling and interesting experience 🙂

    You sounded so casual about the 5 free books, but THAT IS SO GREAT! Also, happy to hear your tutor had some good words to spare. I think some praise doesn’t hurt when it’s applied at the right time.

  11. I love this post, and I am so excited to see your review for Splintered as well. It is one of my favourite series because I love the original Alice in Wonderland and I thought this was a brilliant retelling of it. Do you plan to read the second book soon?
    Also I can’t wait to see more of your Souvenirs From Across The World, I think it is a seriously great idea and I’d love to take part.

    1. Aww thank you so much Beth, so happy you liked it 🙂 I have to admit, Splintered got me a bit confused, but it was a brilliant retelling and I really loved that. I’m not going to read the second book right now, because I’m kind of on a book buying ban for the rest of the month, but I will read it! 🙂

        Splintered is definitely up there when it comes to Alice in Wonderland retellings and I’m so glad you liked it as well 😀 Ahh book buying bans, I’m on one this month as well, probably going to be hard given how much I overspent each month.

      7. I try and get around to them as soon as possible just because by the time they’re released it feels like I’ve been waiting ages for them! But on the other hand I know what you mean about missing the world within certain books! It can be a challenge sometimes but I think at the moment I have a pretty good mix of new releases and re-reads 😀

    1. I am, ahah. well actually, it’s moving out, and back to basics since I’m going back home…and it’s mostly very scary, I don’t feel excited about it haha, but well maybe this part will come 🙂 and what I’m going to do, wow, well try and find a job haha 🙂

  15. I just read Kat’s review on Splintered! Creepy, weird, strange… I’m not sure it’s going to be my book, especially with all the bugs. D:

    I love the whole concept of Souvenirs from Across the World! It’ll be fun to get to know the blogger as well as their… background, I guess. I’m admittedly not really interested in general travel trinkets like keychains/magnets but I LOVE postcards. Maybe it might be worth getting participants to state what kind of things they’d like to receive? Just ensures that people get what they want. 😛

    Also I didn’t know you were interning! What do you actually do? Free books sounds amazing. 🙂

    1. Oh yes, Splintered was all those things, and to be honest when I started reading it, I wondered just what the hell I was getting into, haha 😛 in the end it was an interesting story with a great world-building, but really creepy as well.
      I’m so, so happy that you love the idea! And thank you for bringing that up, I’m actually working on the details and that’s an interesting point you bring up. I need to keep that in mind 🙂

        And no worries – I think in general it’s just that I’m not really much of a trinket person, and I’m kind of specific as to what personal items I’d have too. I’ve been given gifts before that I never ever use because while there’s nothing wrong with them I just don’t jive with the model/shape/design/etc. Just very picky. DDDD:

        That sounds like super fun, Marie! I had a stint as a community manager as well but it wasn’t at anything book-related. I’m kind of thinking I should go back job-hunting right now; I’m getting a bit restless. 😛

Yes, that weird ahah, but it still was great, the world-building was definitely full of imagination and craziness 🙂 OH yes, sure, well I understand, and I wouldn’t want people to be disappointed with what they get. I didn’t think about this before, but now I will definitely add something so you can tell things you really wouldn’t want to get. 🙂

      3. I’m actually a socmed manager as well for a library supplier, but I kind of sort of maybe want to get into the book industry? I did my master’s in publishing and comms, so technically speaking it is possible. I’m just scared to try because I’m scared to fail, which is just self-defeating. xD

      5. Aww, thank you, that means a lot! I’m such a coward when it comes to things I REALLY want though. With things I want just an OK amount I go for them, but with things I REALLY want it’s like OMG NO I will fail let’s not do this.

        And hey! You’re the one interning at a books-related place in FRANCE. Would you believe that I’ve actually toyed with the idea of moving there for like a year or something? And I don’t even speak a word of French, haha.

    I have been such a crappy member of the blogging community lately. I am really struggling to balance my life out! I just about have time to write and read the books I am supposed to be writing about, but that’s it. I will have a look at the posts you suggested and attempt to catch up with everything that’s happening!

    1. Oh no don’t say that! It’s hard some days to balance between real life and the blogging community, but don’t worry because you are doing GREAT and even if I always miss your posts and comments, as long as you’re doing great! 🙂

  20. Yay! The Sunday Post sounds pretty awesome and I love how it recaps your non-bookish adventures and finds as well. I have not read Splintered but I do plan to read the trilogy someday. Hopefully discussing it with other readers will help you forms some thoughts. I also heard you’re going to buddy read The Wrath and the Dawn with Kat (I hope I didn’t mix you both with other bloggers because that’d be embarrassing). And I’m currently actively reading (I say actively because my Goodreads says I’m reading a lot of books when I’m really not reading them, heh) Eligible, which is a Pride and Prejudice retelling and I’m really loving it! As for new foods and drinks, I got a Grasshopper cocoa (which is essentially hot chocolate with mint) and it’s soooo good. No other food discoveries though. ^.^
