Hi bookish friends, how was your week? I couldn’t be happier that it’s over, and now, the weekend ahead, my favorite part! 

Today is the day where I like to talk about books. Wait, that’s everyday, right?! Well, let’s start. Today is the day I LOVE to talk about books in a strange, different way. Like, talking about books, while talking about food. And Burritos? Who doesn’t love burritos?! Summer @ xingsings tagged me to answer some yummy questions. So let’s get started!

Rice: The Foundation – “The book that got you into reading (or book blogging)”

I don’t think I can remember THE book that got me into reading, because, as far as I remember, I’ve been reading books. Maybe I was born already reading, haha. I know that I’ve always been reading, but reading John Green’s novel, Looking for Alaska, really changed me and made me want to read books forever. I guess that kind of explains the name of my blog, too…

Beans: The Filler – “A book with a whole lot of nothing happening”

Right now, I can’t think of any book where kind of NOTHING happens, but I can think of a book I was kind of disappointed of. The premise for The Here and Now, by Ann Brashares sounded so promising, and I was looking forward to reading it, and seeing this author in a genre completely different from Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. Well, the story felt slow-paced and sometimes, TOO slow even, and, I don’t know, it was an okay read, but I expected more to happen.

Protein: The Building Block – “A book quote to live by”

If you don’t know it by now, I love quotes. I love reading them, over and over again, and I want to put up LOTS of quotes on my walls to inspire me. I will apologize if you don’t like John Green, but my favorite quote of all times is this one.

Fajitas: The Crunch of Texture – “A book with immaculate world-building”

In terms of world-building, the book that comes to my mind is The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. It’s one of my favorite books, even though I read it YEARS ago, and I’m amazed by the world that the author managed to create, and make us believe in. I want a daemon so badly.

Salsa: The Dance of Flavour – “A book that kept you on your toes”

I KNOW, I need to read more of Patrick Ness’ novels, and they are on my TBR for this year, and I am going to order one right now. Because with More than this, he kept me on my toes, well, actually, more like kept me two centimeters away from a cliff, and I was scared, and stressed, and completely mesmerized by this story.

Corn: The Explosion of Sweetness – “A memorable scene involving friendship/romance”

To be honest, I don’t know how to answer this one without giving out any spoilers…So I will answer this question a different way : I really loved some of Emmy & Oliver’s scenes, especially the ones between Emmy & Oliver, obviously, but also between their group of friends. In terms of friendships, I can say that I loved scenes in Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson, too.

Cheese: The Bond of Calcium – “Two characters from different books you wish could be friends”

I really tried, and I can’t find any two people who should be friends…any ideas?!

Sour Cream: The Tangy Topper – “The quirkiest character you’ve ever read (protagonist or supporting)”

One of the quirckiest character I’ve ever read about, was probably Bea in The Accident Season. I really LOVED her, she was completely different from all the characters I’ve read about before, kind of crazy, kind of weird, kind of in her own world, and I really liked it.

Guacamole: The Cost of Creaminess – “A book you paid too much for (based on utility experienced)”

Without a second thought, I’ll have to say ALL THE BOOKS in The Pretty Little Liars series. I got quickly addicted…and even if I want to know how it ends, it’s just, SO, MANY, books. I shouldn’t have bought so many books. WHY.

Lettuce: The Handful of Crispness – “A refreshing concept/theme in a book”

I really loved the whole idea of A Thousand Pieces of You. Going in between different worlds, different countries, different times, was really different from anything I’ve read before, and I really liked that. Let’s hope the second book is even better than the first.

Chips: Le Pièce de Résistance – “A must-read recommendation if you like Coming of Age Stories”

I’ll go easy for that one, because, this book tag is EXHAUSTING TO DO. Just kidding, I’m having fun, ahah. I really like coming of age stories, and I think, in that particular genre, you NEED to read The Perks of Being a Wallflower, if you didn’t, yet. It’s a classic, and it’s perfect -and perfectly going to make you cry.

Tabasco: The Kick to the Face – “Your favourite fight/action sequence”

Same as for the question before about a friendship and romance scene, as not to spoil anyone, I will just quote some books. Loved the action sequences in the Mara Dyer series, and in Ignite Me especially. Go read those books!
