Secret Life of a Book Blogger Tag

Hi bookish friends, how are you?! I hope you had a wonderful week, I most certainly did, being on holidays and at home, finally, yay! What about you? How was your week?

Today, I’m being a little narcissistic. No, okay, really, I am, but I feel like I should share more with you guys. Thanks to the wonderful and beautiful Summer @ xingsings, I can talk a little bit more about what I’m doing behind the screen. So let me take you on a little tour of my blogger’s life!

Secret life of
Yes, this is me on the picture. Extra points if you can guess where I am, haha :p

How long have you been a blogger?

Wow, well it’s been a year, not that long ago! By the way, if you want to read my ramblings about my one year anniversary and how thankful I am for all of this, well don’t miss out on my one-year already of Drizzle & Hurricane Books blog post!

At what point do you think you will stop?

Right now, I don’t think I’m going to stop anytime soon, but no one can guess what the future will look like. I really hope though, that I won’t stop anytime soon, and keep on sharing my love for books with you.

What is the best thing?

Well, I guess what I just said before? Sharing my love for books, discovering new books, talking about some bookish related stuff, being able to not feel like a crazy person whenever I want to fangirl about a book I completely fell in love with. And you guys, obviously. You are the best thing, the whole community. Being able to be part of that is the best thing.

wow

What is the worst thing? What do you do to make it okay?

Blogging envy? Apprehensions? One of the worst thing has to be when I start worrying about what I do. There are days when I’m asking myself, why does my blog post doesn’t have success, why aren’t people as responsive as they were two days ago? This always leads me to thinking that my writing wasn’t good enough. And that’s the worst. To make it okay, I’m trying to rationalize always, to remind me that I’m doing that for me, and that I shouldn’t worry too much about stats or anything. I’m doing my thing, that’s what makes me happy, and so that’s what matters.

How long does it take you to create/find pictures to use?

HOURS. I am SUCH a perfectionnist, it’s so annoying at times, haha! More seriously, it depends on the blog post I’m working on. I can take one, or ten pictures of a book for a book review, and take easily one hour to arrange it the way I like. I can try to do other pictures on Canva or other websites, and I easily work an hour on that, too, only to end up being unsatisfied by it anyway. Oh, the struggles of being a perfectionnist. HELP ME.

Who is your book crush?

What kind of question is this?! Looking for Alaska, by John Green, obviously, since it’s my favorite book of all times. The Mara Dyer series is right behind this, though, because, well, hm, if we’re talking about crushes, I need to talk about NOAH.

What author would you like to have on your blog?

Besides the obvious, I would love to have some of my newest authors crush this year, such as Robin Benway, Dahlia Adler maybe. I’m currently reading The Accident Season and kind of obsessing about it, so Moïra Fowley-Doyle is on this list too.

What do you wear when you write your blog posts?

NOTHING. I’m kidding, haha. I usually write blog posts in the morning or the evening, or during the day when I’m on holidays. I’m usually in my pyjamas, or comfy clothes to wear at home.

How long does it take you to prepare?

To prepare, for a blog post, I guess? Wow, hm, if you want a real answer, then take the time I’m taking to find and create pictures, and multiply it by, 3? It depends on what kind of blog post I’m writing. I can do it in under one hour when it’s a Top Ten Tuesday or a Waiting on Wednesday that I’m inspired for, or I can take up to, three hours to write – stop, and come back to-, a book review or a bookish discussion. Finding all the gifts, the titles and stuff included. Is that too long? Am I crazy?!

How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?

I LOVE YOU GUYS. I don’t know what more to say, except that I love you guys, and you’re all amazing, and always put a smile on my face.

What do you think one should do to get a successful blog?

It depends on what your definition of successful, is, I guess. For me, successful really is the amount of sharing you do with others. In comments, in likes, and not really in number of visits or something. If you want to feel part of a community, a real bookish sometimes kind of crazy but amazing community, then my advice is this. Don’t try and copy anyone, just do it your way. Follow bloggers that are like you, that like the things that you do, and comment on their articles. And just be yourself.

Who do you tag?

For this, I’m going to tag some of my most recent followers, I hope you didn’t do this already!

Joan @ Fiddler Blue
Makayla @Readersandmore
@Pigeonreads
Prima @Panda hearts books

  1. We love you too, Marie! 😀 ❤ You already know that I agree with you on all those points, but I have no idea what secret to share. I am definitely a little Twitter crazy! I jumped up and down for an enternity when the account of the Royals started following me hahaha I used to live tweet a lot and even got up early to do so, but now I just don't have the energy. Also, I don't really want to spoil everyone …

    1. Aww, Twitter really is addicting, ahah I OMG really The Royals are following you, that’s so cool, I would have jumped up and down, too!! 😀
You’re right, it’s great to live tweet sometimes, but if you want to do so, just warn me beforehand so I will avoid twitter before watching the episode ahah 😀

      1. It’s crazy! I still don’t know why they chose me!
I just don’t feel like getting up that early while working if it’s not really necessary. You saw that I tweet a couple of pics every now and then, but I try not to make them spoilery. Just an expression of my emotion that people who’ve watched the episode will understand.

  2. I love you too Marie! I learned so much about you in this post 🙂 I actually already did this tag. Sorry 🙂 I should spend more time on my pictures for my posts. Google is my friend when I should use some of my own photos. You had such great answers!

    1. Aww thank you! Oh I’m sorry, no worries then, I will find the post you already wrote, then 🙂 Well, to be honest, I spend a lot of time wondering about my pictures, but what matters the most in the end, is what’s written, it’s what interests me the most 😀 Thank you so much! ❤

  3. Hehehe, I really related to this post Marie! Especially the image one… I mean I draw all my images but tbh my wordpress has like, 5 completed reviews and none of the drawings done so I couldn’t post them!! (Argh!!)

Between you and me, I get blogging apprehension too. ._. I’m really critical of myself, and I start questioning/criticizing every element of my blog. (And then I swiftly get over it… only for it to come back a month or so later!)

But I totally agree – the community is the best part about blogging. AND IT’S HOW I MET YOU!! ♥♥♥♥♥

    1. THAT is something that will never stop impressing me, to be honest, how you DRAW everything, it’s always so beautiful!! ❤
The apprehension happens to me, all the time. I wish I could get rid of it, but, just like you, it always comes back at some point 😦 YES! The community is awesome, and YOU ARE awesome, I'm so happy I met you!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  4. Your gifs are seriously the best! I loved Despicable Me so much; it’s -probably one of my favorite modern animations out there, hehe. And aww, I so understand what you mean about blogging insecurities. I sometimes wonder why certain posts don’t “do as well” either. But I’m the same way, it’s just a fleeting trouble. 😛 And oh my gosh, discussion posts are always so hard. As you probably noticed, I only have two so far because I feel like most of the topics are already discussed before! And Top Ten Tuesday posts take me a long time to create as well, haha. OTL Anyway, I loved learning more about you, and I really liked the photo you used. I’m not sure where you’re at but a public transpiration transit in France? I don’t know! XD

    1. Aww thank you Summer! ❤ And I'm so happy to hear you love Despicable Me, it's my favorite animation movie I think! 😀
It really is hard to stop asking ourselves and being bothered when some posts aren't as popular as others, but well, that's part of being a blogger, I guess 🙂
Ohh, but you shouldn't let that stop you! I know a lot of topics are already covered by a lot of people, but we all -me being the first- want to know your thoughts on everything, so don't hesitate to write about anything you want in book discussions! What matters is that you talk about it your own way, so it's always going to be different and unique 🙂
Thank you so much Summer!! ❤ Haha, almost, I was in the subway in New York! 😀
